Omid Jamshidi – about the author

Omid Jamshidi, an Iranian-German IT professional, runs Omid57.info and has worked independently for freedom of expression and human rights for years.

I am Omid Jamshidi. I hold both Iranian and German citizenship, and I built and run Omid57.info.

What I stand for

For many years I have worked for freedom of expression and human rights – on my own, without belonging to any party, group or faction. Nobody pays me to take a position, and nobody tells me what to publish.

What I do

I work in information technology. I try to use what I know and what I can do professionally to help other people be better informed. Omid57.info is one result: a site that puts the headlines of many outlets side by side, in five editions, so that readers can see for themselves how different media report the same events.

My role at Omid57.info

• I built the site and its software, and I keep it running.
• I choose the news sources, following our editorial standards.
• I write the guides that explain the background behind the news. The headlines themselves come from the outlets named next to them; I do not rewrite them.

Elsewhere

• Omid57.net – my personal website on political, social and human rights issues.
• FinanzTool.info – free money calculators I built.
